Wippy Bonstack's Dataland

aimee I’ve had Dataland for about a year now and I’m happy to report that time has only worked in its benefit. Whether or not I appreciate the album (I do, I love it) it feels as though my brain forces me to hear it, at least monthly, just to get one of the many songs out of my head. There isn’t anything like it and, as a result, no substitute quenches the Dataland thirst.

I have high hopes this isn’t the last album by Wippy, but I know he’s got a lot on his plate.
DoomZappo
DoomZappo thumbnail
DoomZappo An amazing journey through warm, mathy guitar textures interspersed with moody alt/indie/pop rock in a harmonic blend of the accessible and the weird, seamlessly switching between catchy choruses and complex, ever changing instrumental sections. Favorite track: Multi Mystery Knot.
TheEliteExtremophile
TheEliteExtremophile thumbnail
TheEliteExtremophile This energetic album is full of odd, angular riffs and speedy flourishes. There’s a lot of Cardiacs-style weirdness with hints of jazz, pop, and punk tossed in here and there. This release exudes a definite Zappa-esque attitude; its weirdness is often the point.

Welcome to my world I am shifting gears Waves of euphoria Tales of utopia Welcome to my world I am overdue here Planning to open soon Spanning the motion's moves You might not like it but it's what I got You might not like it but it's what I forgot Clean up the made up mess you made Wondering over time Made friends with mystery Destined to depart Reason to wake on up and try Wandering between worlds Iffin the noise will work Bump into the knot

It's funny how things manage to change They always seem to revert back to normal It's something that can't stand in the way If so, we'll be there one day I'm alright hangin' tight I'm alright, hang on tight You can't be serious now Here's something I have managed to claim It stems from trying hard to escape all the bullshit It doesn't matter weather or age In life we always revert back to our old ways Need some air, feed me some air I'm alright hangin' tight I'm alright, hang on tight Use your experience now

You might get satisfaction watchin' me fall You might miss out on action after all Spazz o'clock on a Saturday I miss all the silly talkin' - I'll see you this fall It smells like someone walked into a wall Spazz o'clock on a Saturday I think they oughta know They oughta find it on their own They oughta fight for clueless hope I'm finding it hard to relate I'm finding it hard to escape This time When I'm gone, forget me, achoo! When I'm gone, just rip me in two They got their clothes They find it hard to be alone They oughta fight for freedom's pose Will you swallow or silence the noise? Just follow the sound of my voice This time All I'm saying's rescue haiku All I'm saying's rest up at noon All I'm saying's thank you for all the agonized inspiration You got that subtle tremble, you feeling alright? You got into my mental late one night Spazz O'Clock has a second verse where My inspiration is subject to feel like a fight If I don't measure up yet, just hang tight Spazz o'clock on a Saturday night Bodies rumblin', can't you hear the sufferin'? Just wait 'til June (Invaluable amount of life steed You will retrieve) Bodies tumblin', hang your fear up to dry Gone too soon (Spazz o'clock Please Bring me up to speed Today) They oughta know They oughta find it on their own They oughta fight for clueless hope Hey! Finally I got to go Way out of the way of the woe This time When I'm gone, just hang me unused When I'm gone, just rip me in two When I'm gone, say 'thank you for all the organized information' It's spazza, it's spazza It's Spazz o'clock

Something isn't right Some things just ain't right I might never get away I might never get away, out from here I might never see the day I might never get my way out of here Paralyzing qualities of sleep Might just throw you down Deep beneath the quality of speech Awake before the dawn Something isn't right Some things just can't stay tight The paralyzing qualities of sleep Might just box you down Critical equality I reap Awake before the dawn I just can't stand you In the morning light I cry And I reprimand you In the morning I walk by I might never see the day The paralyzing qualities of sleep Might just box you down Critical equality I reap There's no way to move on 'cause I just can't stand you In the morning light I cry And I reprimand you In the morning I walk by I might never get away I might never be the same, no

You might be stuck with me I don't think you understand the meaning in mind The first thing that you might say is I don't know I don't know you Spilling out to you Giving out a clue Giving like you do The first thing that I might do is I don't know The first thing that you might choose is I don't know The first thing that you might lose is I don't know Out of the blue Breaking in two Waiting like a fool Taking like you do

There will come a day Where you’ll have a price to pay You won’t see me then I’ll be in the flower den There will come a day When you’re gonna have to say All the things you are I’ll be on my own and jumpin' roadblocks with my guitar There will come a day... Whether you like it or not We’re stitched together like a knot Whether you fight it or not You’ll have to rescue your own plot Whether you like it or not I’ll be around to watch you fall and roll to the power of Roll to the power of Whether you like it or not We’re stitched together now There must be a way To drown it out with self decay One would think you might Be there when the lights go off and life goes on, day by night There must be a way I can be myself today But you would be surprised Only in the worthy eyes, third demise There will come a day Something’s gonna have to work out Something’s gonna have to go my way There’s some things that have I to blur out Something’s gonna have to go my way but Everyone’s havin’ a bad day, yay When I found you, you were broken When I found you, you were golden Then those frowners pulled you open Oh hi, oh hi Oh hi, goodbye Something’s gonna have to work out Something’s gonna have to go my way There’s some lives that have I to blur out Something’s gonna have to go my way Hey it’s nice to meet you Can I tell you all about myself? Can I take you to the castle in my head? Oh, never mind Can I bring you to the- No care left It’s no less a matter to me no more You could knock on my door any time but will I answer, who knows? As long as I get to do this Ignant as all else failing I’m wailing, ain’t no more Failing Hey it’s nice to see you Can I introduce you to my fam? Can I bring you to the palace in my head? Oh, never mind Can I bring you to the- Just another personality In the endless barrage of faces coming at me And so I have no prior knowledge Surrounding artists as people Eccentric-ish behavior Never does a favor For you guys Who’ve done it all before Whether you’re manic or just in ecstasy You’ll see that Brains are clashing left and right Melting in and out of sight Now I’m thinking of my whole life as a farce And there’s always trouble to be made of who you are Oh no Why do I always introduce those who come to despise me? Notorious behavior Glory is the savior In these eyes that wonder what they're for Naturally We have been getting led by thee into thinking You’re the perfect one for me You’re my personality Personality

Stigma Sauce 04:59
Way down in the murky depths of you There's a man who wants to go get High on love, drunk on love, high above Where have you been? My whole essence Iron lung, tired tongue, I'm not one And what about the peace? And what about the freedom? I'd rather know that you're okay than ever speak to you again And what about decrease? What about the reason? I'm fallin' face first into the sauce One time I said something, long ago Could have been true Now I just don't know How to go, why I'm so high then low Let me tell you something When you're on your own you'll see You don't have to take it from me There's only one thing going through my head: No strength without sacrifice, your call But as it is I return to my bed And that's all But what about the peace? And what about the freedom? I'd rather know that Here's the very last chance that I'll have Stigma, melting The shame I feel Is too unreal For you to heal Oh my little lovely, pretty soon you're gonna see You could take it all out on me

Goodbye Evil 05:20
Tell the little inky skull I'm out 'Cause I don't think I'm in the know right now Had to tumble big before my day Never sought to rearrange It's the will to make you change my mind Or I am just another left behind You were with this all along it seems Something of a dirty scheme I don't wanna be something that I'm not Something, something, yeah I hate spendin' time on the old things Wasted away on the old days I'm wasted again on that old noise Lookin' away like it's okay But I hate giving into my old ways Wasted away, like that old saying Goodbye evil Wasted away like the old days Maybe I'm out in the open Save me a piece if it's broken One to hold nearby I just had to make it known for sure 'Cause I wasn't makin' sense before Never letting it inform your soul Better not to roam at all Every beauty baron looks the same As effects wear off the tender brain All your thinking's just been met with pain All in all a measly stain I don't wanna be something that I'm not I don't wanna be stuck inside a knot One thing, a one-thing man Wasted away on those old days I'm wasted again and it's okay Waste every day like it's no day Goodbye evil I hate spendin' time on the old days Make it awake in its own away I'll wait to relate and we'll all say Hello

about

Embracing trends of quirky prog and artful songwriting,
Wippy Bonstack takes cues from daring artists as varied as Mike Keneally, Gentle Giant, Frank Zappa, Cheer-Accident, Cardiacs and many more on his debut album, Dataland. Perhaps best known as drummer for the colorful prog outfit Sun Colored Chair and as the creator of the manic experimental project known as Wyxz, composer/multi-instrumentalist Ben Coniguliaro (billed as Wippy) has been hard at work for years amassing influences and ideas for his first solo work. The songs on Dataland vary from extremely complex and challenging compositions (even by progressive rock standards) to catchy and spirited melodic songwriting (even by pop standards), sometimes both colliding in the same piece. Eclectic and engaging, Wippy Bonstack’s Dataland is for seasoned music connoisseurs and should not be missed.
